Garden Dreams is only open for Mother's Day weekend in and hopes to be open fully again in There is a catalog at the entrance with tons of details on everything they sell including notes about hardiness, taste for edibles , and which varieties grow best in pots. The sheer number of varieties of different vegetables is amazing, with dozens of types of tomato plants alone.

As if that's not enough, the workers are super helpful and you can tell they are passionate about what they do- I spent a good 10 minutes talking with them about growing fig trees in pots. There is even a special section of the nursery for native plants, if that's something you're interested in. Hahn Nursery. Plants are organized by annuals, perennials, sun, and shade. Another unique feature is the selection of pots and other garden decorations. Basically, if you can't find it here, you probably can't find it anywhere!

Bedner's Farm. Although a bit of a drive, this one is worth it for its sheer size alone- it is huge! This one has a large assortment of items you may be interested in be it herbs, annuals, perrennials, exotic plants that are best in a greenhouse, trees, fruit bushes, and more!

One aspect we loved about this one is they have a generous section dedicated to shade plants, something we personally need a lot of at our house. We've been to the Reserve Township location, and it is similar in size to Hahn. They've got flowers, plants, fruits, and veggies, although perhaps not as much variety or uniqueness as Hahn. There's also a selection of pots and garden decor here, although the selection isn't as huge as it is at Hahn. Overall, Pittsburgh is home to some pretty amazing flower nurseries and garden centers for those looking to get a little gardening work on at home. While this list is certainly not all of the garden centers in the region, we look forward to discovering more and updating this list as we find them! Looking for more things to do in Pittsburgh?
