Great song. Great drumming by Ringo! That change of tempo and beat in the chorus gives the song a unique feeling. I prefer those Beatles songs which have some contribution by all the guys. As good a song as IMM is, not having Lennon on it is to its detriment.George Martin, for all the credit he greats as being the fifth Beatle did not control the recording sessions. Had he acted like a movie Director and not a glorified engineer, then the Beatles may have acquired some studio discipline and towed the line when it came to recording. Of course, EMI did nothing to help the Beatles stay together. They offered them nothing. Ringo is the only Beatle who did not disrespect his bandmates, and his excellent playing is the backbone of many Beatles songs.Ringo looked bored in the Let It Be movie. Thank God Billy Preston was there to calm the madness, and his contributions were an appreciated addition to the Beatles Songs.I listen to Let It Be with sadness, but there are gems in the album. The Beatles never tried to change record companies and they only recorded elsewhere if EMI was fully booked or another studio had updated tape machines. Brian Epstein did get around to renegotiating a better EMI contract in January , obviously with a vastly improved royalty rate, and a Billboard magazine article from revealed that they and George Martin were seeking to form an independent production company to get better financial returns from their records. For all of this nonsense about the Get Back sessions being entirely marked by ill-feeling, the new documentary film by Peter Jackson seeks to bust the misconception by going through lots of hours of reels of film to show the good moments of friendship, fun, humour and camaraderie that was still present at the time plus Paul and Ringo have given their approval.During The Beatles brought the future to popular music. Where would we have been without them? Going against the heavyweights wore George down. John seemed to have a big hand in a lot of waltzy Beatle songs. When the remaining group members minus John Lennon recorded this, the band was basically kaput, yet they created one of the tightest, most rocking tracks in their entire discography! One can only imagine at this point…. I really like this comment by kupsingh.I love that the Beatles created fantastic songs even when all were not on board. What would this song have been like with a contribution from John? Imagine that. The one thing Spector did right on LIB was his edits on this song. Using that, but getting rid of the bombastic and superfluous strings and brass, and the general cleanup and de-mudding of the sound, creates an excellent rendition of a very good song. I have always wanted to know what the final Jan sessions were like.. Such a sad and appropriate message — 3 years after the summer of love and All you need is love and they arrive at I me mine — without John. This website swallows me up very often when I listen to the Beatles in the evening. Thank you for maintaining the greatest website I have ever found in my 54 years. A favorite Beatle or 2. A favorite Beatle song or 3. A favorite Beatle album. Just love all of it. All you need is love. Love all of it and all of them. Having LSD was like someone catapulting me out into space. You all will have read that Dave Dee is no longer with us. Latest Comments. Iman Friday 28 November Calico Thursday 21 May Now all that said, about the book itself. I suppose if I had to rate it I would assign it 3. Published when George was merely 37 — twenty-one years before his untimely departure from this material world — and with George largely dismissing his years as a Beatle, there was not much ground to cover and many things a reader might want to know more about — his relationship with Eric Clapton, the years with Pattie Boyd, his marriage to Olivia, musical or other influences, etc. This first part was, to say the least, disappointing. And the photos included at the end of this section were fun to see, but poorly labeled — one has to flip to a caption section at the end of the book for image details. And throughout the whole book there were a few typos, which was a bummer considering that the work has been republished since , my copy being a edition. Breton postulated that certain objects find us. But in line with this I do feel that we may be attracted to those people or things that are at a given time meant for us.And so Let it Roll. I am a huge fan of George Harrison and was so excited to read this book. I was so disappointed. I found the first third of the book difficult to follow. Attimes it was unclear if it was George speaking or Derek Taylor. It was seemed to jump back and forth in time, so it was confusing. There were also printed sketches in this first section, with out any captions. It wasn't until I got to the second and middle section of photos that I was able to figure it out Well at the end of the book there was a table that had the page numbers of the sketches listed with a description of each. The same was true for all the photos. This was so annoying. You had to keep flipping back and forth to read what the sketches and photos were of. The book just seemd so poorly put together.I was also looking forward to reading all about George's songs. That too was disappointing as for the majority of them all George had to say was where or he was when he wrote the song and when it was, or what chord or instrument he used.It seemed to be more about the music end of it and not so much about the meaning of the lyrics or what inspired a song. There were a few in which George did delve into the meaning behind a song, but not for the most part. This book could have been so much better Olivia's and Derek's commentary are in italics, and George's own words are in plain text, but it's still hard to follow sometimes whose commentary you're reading.I would have expected things to be arranged chronologically, but they're not in an order I can figure out. Then come some picture plates. The rest of the book is lyrics to George's songs - the lyrics typewritten and then a reproduction of his original written lyrics with edits on different papers and so forth.George writes some amazing music, but I wasn't expecting an autobiography to be half song lyrics; I was expecting it to be all about his life. I haven't finished reading the first bit, but skimming it, I've seen no comments at all about later years like his time with the Travelling Wilburys or his hit "Got My Mind Set On You" which he'd actually written many years earlier.I feel like I learned more about his life at least his early life and fame from reading his first wife Pattie Boyd's autobiography. The March mix extended the song by repeating segments to build another bridge and verse as heard in [a].The Anthology mix [b] was done to show the original length of the recording. A quick run-through of George Harrison's I Me Mine shot in early January during the Twickenham rehearsal period of the Get Back project was set for inclusion in the Let It Be film, indicating that it also should feature on the accompanying album. But as the song had never been committed to tape with any serious endeavour the Beatles convened again in number two studio at EMI - some five months after completing final album Abbey Road - and recorded their last new piece together. The word "new" is an important qualifier, for work polishing up previously recorded material for Let It Be continued through to April. But not all of the Beatles participated: John Lennon was on holiday, his absence prompting a telling remark - like a mock press statement - from George during the session, which precedes this Anthology recording.Let It Be Stereo - remaster. The question is not having used a bootleg but having degraded the sound quality. Complete Acetate Collection Have you spotted an error on the page? Do you want to suggest new content?
